Cleaning and Long-Term Care for Your LYNQ BikeUpdated 13 days ago

To keep your LYNQ e-bike performing like new, regular maintenance is required. Whether you are riding the Loop, Current, or Relay, these steps will protect your investment and ensure your safety on the road.

Cleaning Your E-Bike Safely

Because your bike contains advanced electronics, including touch displays and a 48V battery system, you must be careful with water:

  • Never use a pressure washer: High-pressure water can bypass seals and damage the motor, battery, or the 2.8" and 4.8" touch displays.
  • The "Two-Bucket" Method: Use a bucket of water with mild bike soap and a second bucket of clean water for rinsing with a soft cloth.
  • Dry Immediately: After wiping down the frame, use a microfiber towel to dry the bike, especially around electrical contact points and the chain.

Drivetrain and Mechanical Care

All LYNQ bikes feature high-quality Shimano gearing (7-speed on Loop/Current, 8-speed on Relay) that needs regular attention:

  • Chain Lubrication: Apply a bike-specific lubricant to the chain every 100 miles or after riding in the rain to prevent rust and ensure smooth shifting.
  • Brake Inspection: LYNQ bikes use hydraulic brakes which provide superior stopping power but should be checked regularly for pad wear.
  • Bolt Check: Periodically check that all major bolts (handlebars, seat post, and racks) are tight, as e-bike vibrations can cause them to loosen over time.

Tire Maintenance

Your tires are the only thing between you and the road, and they significantly impact your range:

  • Check PSI Weekly: Ensure your pneumatic tires are inflated to the recommended pressure listed on the sidewall to maximize your up to 34-mile range.
  • Inspect for Debris: Regularly check the treads for glass, thorns, or sharp rocks that could cause a flat.
  • Suspension Care: Wipe down the stanchions of your front hydraulic suspension after dusty rides to keep the seals moving smoothly.

Storage Best Practices

  • Avoid Extreme Heat: Do not store your bike in a hot car or in direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can degrade the battery.
  • Indoor Storage: Whenever possible, store your bike indoors in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent corrosion.

Reminder: LYNQ bikes are built with a steel or aluminum platform designed for durability, but regular care is the best way to prevent premature wear.
